Community Impact Newspaper is published 13 times a year and mailed to more than 207,000 households and businesses in the Round Rock, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, Leander and Austin areas. 

Publication Dates

• Round Rock and Pflugerville: First Friday of each month
• Georgetown, Hutto, Taylor: Second Friday of each month
• Leander and Cedar Park: Third Friday of each month
• Northwest Austin: Fourth Friday of each month.

History

Publisher John Garrett began CI after recognizing the need for intelligently reported news covering northern Travis and Williamson counties, a region that is one of the fastest growing areas in Texas. In September 2005, the first issue arrived in the homes of Pflugerville and Round Rock residents bringing detailed maps of future toll roads and breaking stories about local hospitals.

In April 2006, CI expanded into Leander and Cedar Park, another fast-growing, underrepresented area.

Then CI branched out again, this time to Northwest Austin, in February 2007 with the opening of its third paper.

Business model

In a world of free Internet news and decreasing newspaper circulation, CI believes readers still want the printed story. Each month, all residents in CI communities receive through direct mail a free copy of quality content specifically covering the news and information that will impact them.

The care and investment the staff has in the region they represent sets CI apart. Many of the reporters and staff grew up and live in the area they cover, so the stories are as important to them as they are to the reader. CI is an active member of the chambers of commerce in all the cities it represents, and a supporter of local schools, businesses and non-profit organizations.
