Mark Andrew Allen's new series of colorful contemporary art is now showing upstairs at the Wally Workman Gallery. This series is painted on wood with mixed media. Allen's powerful mixed media paintings have been shown throughout the world and are in many notable collections. His works are a combination of popular imagery with abstract painting combined to expose alternate meanings through contextual preconceptions. Recording his daily life experiences through painting, using materials that surround him, he has developed into his own visual vocabulary of seeing the world. Allen's newest series gives a nod to Picasso and the cubist painters while also acknowledging the Pop movement of the Sixties.

Set sail with a band of tenderhearted pirates, a modern Major-General, a bevy of Victorian maidens, and a bunch of bumbling British bobbies in Gilbert & Sullivan’s musical comedy classic for all ages, The Pirates of Penzance.  Upon reaching his 21st year and the fulfillment of his indentures, the hapless young pirate apprentice, Frederic, vows to devote his life to the extermination of piracy. Young Frederic promptly falls for Mabel, one of the lovely daughters of the Major-General, but a ludicrous leap year snag threatens to keep him apprenticed to piracy for life.

First performed in 1879, The Pirates of Penzance joins The Mikado and HMS Pinafore as one of the most popular of Gilbert & Sullivan’s fourteen musicals, and has been continuously performed since then throughout the world.

Artistic Director Ralph MacPhail, Jr. returns for his eighth summer with the Society, along with Jeffrey Jones-Ragona in his twelfth season as Music Director. The cast includes: Holton Johnson (Frederic), Frank Delvy (Major-General Stanley), David Fontenot (Pirate King), Carol Brown (Mabel), Russell Gregory (Sergeant of Police), and Janette Jones (Ruth).

Following the national success of her previous Tony-attracting shows, "The Royal Tour" and "Back with a Vengeance," Dame Edna Everage the international housewife, therapist, gigastar, guru, and celebrity confidant, is currently crafting her latest, exciting entertainment strategies on her private estate in her native Australia.

All will soon be revealed with "Dame Edna-Live and Intimate" to her adoring, loyal, and fashionably slim US audiences. Dame Edna will display her unique genius within a new and vibrantly stimulating theatrical infrastructure.

Dame Edna said today "I don't do shows, I make history. In a spooky way I am theater in the making. My shows are really not shows at all; they are not Events at all, they are Miracles which you can proudly tell your grandchildren you witnessed.
